2017 Paris Tour Booking Form
Thursday or before – Travel to Paris
Friday, September 8, 2017 – We will meet at our hotel at 3 PM for introductions and an orientation walk of the neighborhood. While we are out, we will have a welcome Dinner. We will return to the hotel early so everyone can sleep off the jet lag.
Saturday, September 9 – We start our day with an hour-long Seine River Cruise. You will learn how to use the Paris Metro as we travel to our first yarn shop – this one in the 16th arrondissement. After some free time for shopping and lunch, we will walk through the city to the Trocadero for an Eiffel Tower photo op. We cross the river and ascend the tower before heading to Dinner.
Sunday, September 10 – We will attend the morning service and organ concert at Saint Sulpice Cathedral. After a relaxing picnic Lunch at the Luxembourg Gardens, we will go to the L’Oisive and Bien Aimee yarn shops. In the late afternoon, we will ride the Metro to the Arch de Triomphe, and spend time wandering the Champs Elysses. Dinner on your own
Monday, September 11 – Today, we visit Notre Dame Cathedral and take a walking tour of the area. You will have time to visit Sainte-Chapelle or the Notre Dame towers and have lunch on your own. In the afternoon, we have time to shop Le Comptoir and Cat Laine yarn shops. We will stop at the Lafayette Galleries** before Dinner.
Tuesday, September 12– We will spend a full day at the Sun King’s Chateau of Versailles. In the morning we will stroll through the gardens and musical fountains, before visiting Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet. In the afternoon we will tour the chateau. After Dinner, we will meet up with some local Parisian knitters to exchange tips and talk about our hobby.
Wednesday, September 13 – We will start out this morning at the Museum of Decorative Arts. After an early Lunch, we will visit the Li’l Weasel and La Droguerie yarn shops. If we have time and energy we will make a stop at Bon Marché**. After dinner on your own, we will meet at the Louvre, and explore the treasures such as Venus de Milo, the Mona Lisa, and more.
Thursday, September 14 – Today we will visit three of Paris’ best art museums. We will start at the Orangerie, home to Monet’s Water Lilies. By late morning we will visit my favorite museum, the Orsay. We will end the day at the Marmottan, the museum I call Paris’ hidden gem. Dinner
Friday, September 15 – We start out the day at the Marche St. Pierre, a five story fabric shop, along with the surrounding streets filled with smaller shops. Included in the mix are two yarn shops, Tricot Saint-Pierre and Laines. We will take a walking tour of the Montmartre area and look out over the city before stopping for part of the mass at the Sacre-Coeur Basilica to listen to the choir of nuns. Dinner
Saturday, September 16 – Today is free for you to use as you please. You can revisit the yarn shops or go to one or two of the museums* we did not get to. For an extra charge, you can go on an optional tour to Normandy or Giverny (ask for details). We will regroup tonight for our last Dinner together.
Sunday, September 17 – The tour ends after breakfast this morning.
