Meals

Eating local food is a great way to experience a new culture.

To save money, meals can be prepared in the kitchen of a rental apartment or a hostel.  You can purchase supplies at a local grocery store or market.  Another option is to purchase prepared food, like sandwiches or cooked chicken for an quick meal.  Picnics are a great way to stretch your budget and there are markets in every city. Pick up some bread, cheese, fruit and a bottle of wine to enjoy. In a B&B, breakfast is included. If the breakfast is generous, you may not need lunch or your host may offer rolls or fruit to take for a snack for later.   In some cities, street food or fast food is available and pizza always seems to be a bargain. Restaurants post their menus—with prices—outside, so you can always check the prices before you commit.
